Manitoba Canola Growers Association (MCGA) is sponsoring 10 x $250 scholarships for members of Manitoba Canola Growers to put towards their registrations and hotel room at the Young Farmers Conference. To qualify, registrants must be a MCGA member and submit a write up to answer the following question: “What is canola’s biggest challenge on your farm?”. Submit this write up along with your registration information to the Chandra Rempel at Keystone Agriculture Producers for a chance to receive one of these scholarships.
In 2015, the Young Farmers Conference will focus on understanding risk management strategies to keep your farm business strong and thriving across generations.
Keynote speaker:
Dr. John Fast – the Family Business Doctor will provide insight into farm transition from generation to generation, including interaction with participants at different stages of the succession process. He will also chair a panel of Manitoba producers who are at different stages of farm business transfer, representing both successor and retiring generations. They will share their farm stories, successes, challenges and much more.

Production risk management: land and equipment investment strategies for decision making.
Marketing risk management: what to consider to minimize risks when deciding how to market your production.
Strategic planning risk management: understanding margin, price and production insurance, the value of cash advances, using insurance as a risk management tool, etc.
