2009 Manitoba Canola Choice Award Recipient – Jim Green 

Jim GreenJim Green is a partner in G-Six Farms Limited, a family farm operation, comprised of brothers Doug and Don and parents Russ and Mona. G-Six Farms produces grains, oilseeds and pulses, and is located 8 miles North-East of Brandon. G-Six Farms is also a partner in Perfect Prairie Pork Limited, a 1500 sow genetic multiplier farrowing barn and Perfect Prairie Poultry Limited, a 40000 hen layer barn producing GP multiplication eggs for Hyline International. Jim is a graduate of the University of Manitoba, holding a diploma in Agriculture.  His career in farming began when interest rates were 24%.

Jim is a past-president of the Brandon Flying Club, the Manitoba Canola Grower’s Association, the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba, past Chairman of the Brandon Economic Development Board, past Director of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce, and served as an Advisory Council member to Manitoba Agriculture and Rural Initiatives Growing Opportunities Team. Currently, Jim is Vice-President of G-Six Farms Limited, President of Perfect Prairie Pork Limited, Secretary of Perfect Prairie Poultry Limited, and a Director of Elton Energy Co-operative.

Jim is married to Lori Dangerfield, a pharmacist, and has two children, daughter Aran in Third year Medicine and son Mitchell in Grade 11.
