Agriculture Policy

Manitoba Canola Growers (MCGA) main focus is research and market development. MCGA does not consider itself a full-fledged lobby organization. However, MCGA is often asked to comment on specific agricultural policy issues, as they arise, as a spokesperson for the canola growers of Manitoba.

The MCGA largely confines our policy activity to those issues that either directly or indirectly impact the canola industry. The MCGA provides input to agricultural policy issues through membership of two organizations.

  • MCGA is a Commodity (Producer) Organization Member of the Keystone Agricultural Producers (KAP), whose mandate is “to ensure primary production in Manitoba remains profitable, sustainable and globally competitive.”
  • MCGA is a Member of the Canadian Canola Growers Association (CCGA), whose mandate is “to influence federal policy on behalf of independent grain farmers and their associations.”
