New midge discovery in canola – February 2, 2017

What we thought was swede midge in canola in Western Canada turns out to be two species — swede midge and new one. Boyd Mori with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada talks with CCC agronomy specialist Keith Gabert and host Jay Whetter about the discovery, what it means for canola growers and what research is required. To date, midge has not been a significant pest of canola in Western Canada but it is for Ontario canola growers.
