Supporting Manitoba canola growers with practical, region-specific agronomy is at the core of what we do, and it’s an area we’re continuing to grow through a strong team working across research, agronomy, and extension.
We’re pleased to welcome Lindsey Brooks as MCGA’s new Agronomy Specialist.
Lindsey brings a decade of hands-on agronomy experience working directly with Manitoba farmers, most recently as a Sales Agronomist with Jonair, where she provided crop advice, scouted fields, and supported on-farm decision-making. Her background also includes research trial work with Bayer CropScience and agronomy roles with Pembina Co-op. Lindsey holds a Bachelor of Science in Agroecology from the University of Manitoba and a certified Prairie Certified Crop Advisor and Professional Agrologist.
This role is an important step forward as we continue to grow and strengthen the support we provide to our farmer members. Created to help fill key gaps in the industry and expand agronomic support for Manitoba canola growers, this position reflects what we’ve been hearing from our members. Through recent surveys and ongoing conversations, research and agronomy support have consistently come forward as top priorities, and we’re taking action to meet that need.
Lindsey’s addition builds on an already strong team working across research, agronomy, and extension at MCGA. Together, this team is focused on delivering high-impact, practical agronomic information that helps farmers make better decisions on their farms. With Lindsey’s expertise, we’re enhancing our ability to provide regionally specific insights especially when it comes to canola production in Manitoba’s unique growing conditions.
Through applied research programs like the Canola On-Farm Research Program and Canola Diagnostic Services, we’re generating real-world insights directly from Manitoba fields. At the same time, we invest in research projects that combat issues specific to canola in Manitoba, that we then translate into practical, usable information that farmers can apply on their operations.
That translation piece is critical. Research only creates value when it can be put to work on the farm, and that’s exactly where Lindsey’s role will have a meaningful impact. By strengthening our agronomic extension capacity, we’re ensuring that the knowledge generated through research reaches farmers in a way that’s clear, relevant, and actionable.
Lindsey is joining a team that is deeply committed to aligning projects and programs with farmer priorities, supporting not just today’s challenges, but the long-term sustainability of canola production in Manitoba.
We’re excited to have her on board and look forward to the contributions she’ll bring to our team and to Manitoba’s canola growers.
