Canola-Based Biofuel Markets

For decades, MCGA has supported expanding Canada’s biofuels market, recognizing that strong policies drive canola demand. In response to recent international market uncertainty, MCGA backed efforts to grow stable, domestic market options for canola.

Working with CCGA, CCC, and COPA, Manitoba Canola Growers have helped develop and expand biofuel markets to provide meaningful value and reliable alternatives for farmers. Months of analysis and lobbying shaped Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulation (CFR). While a compromise, the CFR was significantly improved through industry advocacy and now incentivizes processors to invest in Canadian biofuel facilities—expanding market choices for canola farmers.

MCGA also supports CCC and COPA’s work to maintain U.S. biofuel market access and has engaged potential Manitoba investors that are exploring opportunities in Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
