At Manitoba Canola Growers Association (MCGA), our board members are passionate advocates for Manitoba farmers—bringing leadership, insight and heart to every decision we make. We’re looking for individuals from all walks of Manitoba farming to bring their unique perspectives to the table. Prior board experience is welcome but not required. What matters most is your farm experience and your voice.
Why serve?
As an MCGA Director, you’ll:
- Help steer the strategic direction of MCGA alongside fellow farmers and staff.
- Oversee financial planning and approve budgets to ensure responsible resource use.
- Shape and evaluate programs that deliver real value to members.
- Promote the organization’s role and voice across the industry.
- Represent Manitoba canola farmers in national and provincial conversations.
- Build leadership skills and expand your professional network.
What you bring:
- A passion for agriculture and a desire to make an impact.
- An open mind and a collaborative spirit.
- Forward-thinking, big-picture perspective.
- Skills or interest in areas like agronomy, research, policy, communications, finance or governance (training is provided).
- A willingness to learn and contribute.
Time commitment:
- Three in-person board meetings per year (1.5–2 days each).
- Two to three video calls per year.
- One Annual General Meeting.
- Participation in two committees (approximately four virtual meetings each per year).
- Optional attendance at key agriculture events like CropConnect Conference, Manitoba Ag Days, Canola Week and more.
Directors may also represent MCGA on external boards and committees including:
- Canola Council of Canada (1)
- Canadian Canola Growers Association (2)
- Keystone Agricultural Producers (1)
- Western Canada Canola/Rapeseed Recommending Committee (1)
