Step right up! CanolaPALOOZA is coming to Manitoba

Winnipeg, MB, June 16, 2016 – Portage la Prairie will welcome over 150 growers, researchers and agronomists from the canola industry to join the fun at the first Manitoba canolaPALOOZA event on Tuesday. Hosted by the Canola Council of Canada (Canola Council), Manitoba Canola Growers (MCGA) and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), delegates will walk about in a carnival-like atmosphere while learning canola best management practices, investigating canola plants seeded earlier this year and networking.

CanolaPALOOZA brings together nearly 40 of the best research and agronomy extension people in all of canola to educate delegates on topics from spray technology, to insect management, all the way to harvest management.

“Last year the canolaPALOOZA event went over magnificently in Alberta,” said Justine Cornelsen, Agronomist with Canola Council. “We’re thrilled to host a similar interactive learning event here in Manitoba. Most, if not all, the Canola Council agronomy team will be here teaching stations as well as Tom Wolf and Brian Caldwell from AgriMetrix, Rigas Karamanos, John Heard, John Gavloski, Murray Hartman, PAMI and many others.”

The canolaPALOOZA stations include Harvest Management, Insect Management, Disease Management, Canola Cinema, Nutrient Management, Weed Management/Keep it Clean, Sprayer Technology, Stand Establishment, History of Canola and the Brassica Triangle, Soil Pits as well as a Canola Eat Well Snack Station.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming over 150 attendees to Portage to learn from our agronomists and canola experts while they enjoy the canolaPALOOZA carnival,” says Roberta Galbraith, Member Relations Coordinator with MCGA. “Attendees are encouraged to walk about at their own pace and visit the stations that interest them. Each of the stations focus on different aspects of canola production for a fun day of interactive in-field learning.”
