Genetics, Environment and Management: Finding Room for Improvement
November 24, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
FreeWhat drives yield can be divided into three pillars: genetics, environment, and management (GxExM). There are many different factors and interactions that occur within and among these, and because each farm across the prairies is unique, there is rarely a broad sweeping solution or system that will work for all. The robust canola genetics used now are largely the product of public and private breeding initiatives, while management is optimized at the farm through on-farm experimentation or by adopting management practices promoted by research. The environment is largely out of our control, but there are strategies to mitigate risk to unfavourable conditions during the growing season. This webinar will begin to scratch the surface on these three important components of yield and how to make them best work for you and your farm.
