Minister of Agriculture to Join Farmers at CanolaPALOOZA

Winnipeg, MB, June 19, 2017 – Portage la Prairie will welcome over 200 farmers, researchers agronomists, and Minister and Deputy Minister of Agriculture to take part in Manitoba’s second canolaPALOOZA event on Thursday June 22. Hosted by the Canola Council of Canada (CCC), Manitoba Canola Growers (MCGA) and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), participants will be able to take an interactive approach to learning while they tour the plots and take in the 14 different stations.

CanolaPALOOZA is pleased to host the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Ralph Eichler, and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Dori Gingera-Beauchemin who will be in attendance from 11:00– 12:30.

Over 60 of the best research and agronomy extension experts from across North America will be on hand to talk to participants and answer questions on topics from soil compaction to blackleg management, all the way to grading and safe storage.

“CanolaPALOOZA is like no other crop tour with an open agenda which allows time for participants to attend presentations and demos at their own pace,” said Justine Cornelsen, Agronomist with Canola Council. “There are a mixture of indoor and outdoor stations all equipped for the weather, so rain or shine it will be a great day.”

CanolaPALOOZA stations include Inside the Lab, Soil Compaction, Insect Pest Management, Storage Management, Fertility – Top Dressing, Canola Eat Well Snack Station, Sprayer Tank Cleanout, Understanding the Prescription, Beneficial Insects – Natural Areas, Group 2 Weed Management, Crushing-Grading-End Use, Stand Establishment, Blackleg Management, CSI Canola Mystery Plots, Farm Safety, and Keep it Clean.
