Agriculture in the City

March 18, 2016 @ 9:30 am - March 19, 2016 @ 6:00 pm

It’s that time of year again! Time for a fun weekend at the Forks for Agriculture in the City!

If you haven’t been before, Ag in the City is an event that offers a chance to explore the vibrant world of agriculture! Everyone is welcome! So come and discover how agriculture impacts our daily lives. It promises to be fun for all ages!

Who: Everyone

What: Agriculture in the City

When: Friday, March 18, 9:30am-9:30pm

Saturday, March 19, 9:30am-6pm

Where: The Forks Market

This year, Ag in the City will showcase 23 exhibitors with hands-on displays, delicious food samples, and game shows—you don’t want to miss! Here are three exciting reasons you should come to Ag in the City.

  1. Try our Manitoba X-V Canola oil

I’ll be there all weekend giving samples of our new X-V canola oil! If you haven’t tried it before, now’s your chance.

We have three different vintages for you to try: Selkirk, Grandview, and Winkler. The vintages are from three different farmers, but made from the same canola seed and are crushed the same, but somehow they taste different. Stop by and I’ll tell you why!

  1. Meet farmers who grow the food you eat

On Friday, at 2pm, you can meet a farmer! Keystone Agriculture Producers (KAP), Manitoba’s largest general farm policy organization, will hit the stage with a panel of Manitoba farmers. This is your chance to connect with a farmer and have a conversation about farm to food!

Meet canola farmer, Curtis McRae.

  1. Food Fight!

No, you won’t be dodging any tomatoes cause it’s not that type of food fight. This Food Fight gives a handful of students from the University of Manitoba Food Science program the opportunity to pitch their new food product concepts to a panel of judges—it’s like the agriculture version of CBC’s Dragon’s Den.

That’s only a slice of what’s happening at Agriculture in the City! For more information, visit their website.
